NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 (Laptop, 140W) vs GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (Laptop, 150W) – The 3070 Ti is far from being out of the fight

If you’re already looking for an RTX 4070 laptop, stop right now. Before you actually commit, let us introduce you to the RTX 3070 Ti from last year and all the power that it can bring. It’s one of the best cards to come out last year, acting as a refresh and an improvement over the regular RTX 3070. As for the 4070, it’s the new kid on the block, of which we’ve picked the highest possible 140W version. The 3070 Ti’s not too shabby either, sporting an even larger 150W power limit.

Specs table

Of course, these new GPUs clock up way higher, but we have to factor in the larger core count of the Ampere GPU, as well as the bigger memory bus and higher bandwidth.

GPU benchmarks

While the new RTX 4070 is the better performer in the Time Spy benchmarks, all other tests sway in favor of the good old RTX 3070 Ti, as it’s 6% faster on average.
